Entertaiment is any activity that provides pleasure, amusement, relaxation or diversion. It can take many forms, such as sports, games, social gatherings, theatre, music and movies. The term is derived from the Latin word intertenere, which means “to hold inside.” The prefix inter refers to inner or interior, while the suffix tenere, deriving from the Indo-European root tense, means to stretch or extend. Entertainment often hits on themes the human mind was shaped to react deeply to, like backstabbing and murders. It also stimulates the brain to release seratonin and other chemicals.
